Fellow Huntsville Division Alumni,
The HDAA Board had a special Zoom meeting on Thursday to deal with the
impact of the pandemic on the annual HDAA luncheon meeting scheduled for
December 5. All of the facilities where we have had luncheons and
brunches over the past few years have quit hosting such events in
respect for the danger of Covid-19; and, there was a consensus that
attendance was likely to be minimal even if we could book the event in a
suitable venue. So, we looked at an on-line "virtual gathering" as a
possibility. We can easily and quickly conduct required business this
way. The challenge for such virtual events is making them enjoyable
without food and without being able to engage in much table-talk. We
noted that live music was once an enjoyable feature of HDAA's December
events and that several members of our Thiokol family are popular and
award-winning musicians. So, we approached a couple of them, found them
to be receptive, and heard their suggestions of others who might
contribute their talents to the event. Detailed plans are now under
development by accomplished musicians Benny Pitsinger, Lisa Duncan
Williams, Philip Franklin, and Jamie Neidert. They say that there are
probably others who should be included if they make their interest
known. They also mention that the technology we plan to use is not what
they would have for a professional performance, but we assured them that
having such entertainment by members of our own Thiokol Family -- our
old friends -- would more than compensate for any loss in audio or video
quality.
So, *plan to attend an on-line live-music event at 11:00 a.m.
(tentative) on Saturday morning December 5.* Details for connecting
through Zoom by computer or phone will be provided later. (Time is
tentative because we'd rather not be in competition with football games
of major local interest and their times are not yet known.)
And, *please let us know ASAP if you are an accomplished musician (any
type music) and would be interested in adding your talents to the
event.* You can make an input from anywhere in the world.
Best wishes on behalf of the HDAA Board!
What do you think?
Cec
(HDAA Secretary)
