[List] Obituary: Ray Watson (SIT)

Raymond C. Watson Jr., 94, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday.

He grew up on a dairy farm in Anniston and served in the Navy during 
WW2. He married Charlotte "Bet" Bagley in 1948 and they had five 
children, sons, Lee, David, Coke, and Joe, and a daughter, Ann. Raymond 
attended several colleges and universities earning degrees in physics, 
mathematics and engineering mechanics, and a doctorate in engineering 
science.

He was long employed at Teledyne Brown Engineering, the University of 
Alabama in Huntsville, Southeastern Institute of Technology, and DESE 
Consultants. He was the author of three technical histories concerning 
early radar systems and technology in the Huntsville area. He attended 
Monte Sano Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, three sons, his 
daughter; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held at Maple Hill Cemetery.

As far as I know Ray never worked for Thiokol, but he was the director 
of Southeastern Institute of Technology, where a good many of us took 
graduate courses and possibly some taught.
