*Martha Nelson*, age 81, passed away at her home on June 18th.
Martha was born in Albertville, Alabama and was preceded in death by her
parents Eldrid and Annie Lou Hunt, sister Nina Fay Trapp, and husband
John Nelson. She is survived by her daughter Carol Garland (Wayne),
grandchildren Cecilia, John, and Jennifer Garland, and great grandson
Adriano Garland.
Martha attended Albertville High School, Snead Junior College, the
University of Alabama, and Alabama A & M. She worked as a middle school
counselor at Mt. Gap Middle School. She was also a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church. After retiring, she volunteered at Huntsville
Botanical Gardens, the public library, American Red Cross, Meals on
Wheels, and through du Midi Women's Club. She loved working in the
gardens at Magnolia Trace and making flower arrangements for her
neighbors to enjoy.
A private service will be held at Magnolia Trace on 6/26 [at 10:30] in
the morning, followed by a Celebration of Life at Mt. Vernon Baptist
Church in Albertville, Alabama at 2:30 pm, with graveside burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntsville
Botanical Garden, Alabama A &M University, or the charity of your choice

=============================================
Martha's daughter Carol Garland wants all of Martha's Thiokol friends to
know that they/we are invited to attend the service billed in the
newspaper as "private."
The "private service" scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:30 is open to
Magnolia Trace residents and others under certain conditions. One
condition is that visitors to this retirement community must either be
vaccinated appropriately (and possibly verify this) or test negative on
entry (usually $25 fee and time to read results). Another condition is
that Madison County not go to the dogs in Covid-19 testing before
Saturday. Parking may be a challenge for those not arriving early but
there will be plenty of space around Constellation Drive, just requiring
the driver to walk like in a shopping center after dropping off
passengers at the Clubhouse where the service will be held.
