BETTYCOMER OBITUARY
Betty Joyce Comer June 2, 1938 - December 2, 2022 Betty Joyce Comer, 84, 
of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, in 
Birmingham, Alabama. Born June 2, 1938, to Wiley and Mattie Belle (Reed) 
Tipton, Betty grew up in Huntsville. She was a 1956 graduate of 
Huntsville High School, where she played clarinet as a member of the 
high school band. After high school, Betty worked at Bragg Furniture, 
and in 1960, married Roger C. Comer,originally from Akron, Ohio, by way 
of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and 
grandmother, full of grace and compassion. As a homemaker, she loved to 
cook and create and trade recipes with family and friends. She enjoyed 
traveling both domestically and overseas with her husband Roger, and 
spending time with her family. She liked to read, and also enjoyed 
following University of Alabama football. Betty and Roger lived in 
Huntsville throughout Roger's career, and after retirement, moved to 
Grant, and later to Helena, Alabama, to be closer to their immediate 
family. Deeply rooted to North Alabama, they remained members of First 
Baptist Church in Huntsville, and often traveled back for church events 
and to visit friends and extended family. She is survived by her husband 
of 62 years, Roger C. Comer; her son Alan Comer and wife, Melanie, of 
Helena, Alabama; grandchildren, Mari Margaret Comer, Nolan Comer and 
James Comer of Helena, Alabama; and several cousins in Huntsville and 
the surrounding area. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 
December 10, 2022, in the chapel at First Baptist Church, 600 Governor's 
Drive, Huntsville, Alabama 35801, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., 
with the Reverend Mark Seanor officiating. Burial will follow in Maple 
Hill Cemetery.
