William "Bud" E. Duffey, age 91 passed away at his home in Sarasota, FL 
on Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was born to Edmund and Elisabeth 
(Andrews) Duffey on March 21, 1933 in Huntsville, AL.
Bud attended Auburn University where he graduated with a Mechanical 
Engineering Degree.

He started his career in the missile business. After several years as a 
rocket scientist, he met Karen. After marrying the boss's daughter he 
moved to Sycamore to become an Engineer with Driv-Lok Inc.

They raised 3 children in Sycamore. Bud was very involved in his 
children's sports teams as an umpire and coach. He was civic-minded and 
worked with the Chamber of Commerce as well as the Rotary Club. He 
worshiped at the United Methodist Church in Sycamore. His faith has 
always been a driving force in his life. He and Karen lived and worked 
in Sycamore until they retired to Sarasota, FL. In Sarasota they were 
members of Trinity Methodist Church. Bud served on many committees at 
the church. Bud enjoyed golf both in Illinois and Florida. He was a 
member of the Meadows Country Club.

Bud was an active member of the Rotary Club International. He was an 
avid golfer for years, loved country music, and was a devout Christian.
He is survived by two daughters, Kim Duffey and Carolyn (Duffey) Braune; 
a niece, Kelly (Duren) Hamm; three grandsons, Kyle Sponseller, Shea 
Braune, and Jace Braune; and one granddaughter, Mikaela Braune.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Duffey; daughter, Kathy 
Duffey; and sister, Gene Duren.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27th, 
2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4150 S. Shade Avenue, Sarasota, 
FL 34231. A private graveside will be held following the service.

with time spent on the Nike Zeus program at Douglas Aircraft in CA.
