Kenneth Pledger Obituary
Kenneth Alton Pledger of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on
March 16th at the age of 86. Born on May 13, 1938, in Sipsey, Alabama,
he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who
will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Kenneth proudly served
in both the United States Air Force and the West Virginia National
Guard. Following his military service, he built a long and distinguished
career in telecommunications for the U. S. Army at Redstone Arsenal. He
worked at the Redstone Communication Center from 1960 to 1984 in various
capacities with increasing responsibilities. He completed his career as
a Management Information Systems Supervisor for the U. S. Army Missile
Command from 1984 until his retirement in 1995.
In his retirement, Kenneth found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He
had a passion for gardening, taking great pride in keeping everything
beautiful and well maintained. He loved his dogs, Misty and Audrey, as
well as his grand-dogs, Sheila, Chloe and Charlie. He cherished his time
with his granddaughter, Kari, and especially enjoyed getting pictures
and videos of his great-grandchildren, Charlie Rose and Milo. His love
for his family, both human and four-legged, was evident in everything he
did.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle Williams and
Edward Kenneth Pledger, as well as his sisters, Bobby Williams, Betty
Roberts and Billie Melton.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Edris Pledger; his
sons,*Kenneth Lawrence Pledger (Charla Pledger) *and Edward Pledger; his
granddaughter, Kari Morton (Jay Morton); and his great-grandchildren,
Charlie Rose Morton and Milo Lee Morton. He is also survived by his
uncles, Malcolm Pledger and Dale Pledger; his aunt, Shirley White; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth's dedication to his family and his work left a lasting impact on
those who knew him. His kindness, strength and unwavering love for his
family will be cherished and remembered always.
A service to honor his life will be held in the Chapel at Whitesburg
Baptist Church South Campus in Huntsville, AL on Friday, March 21st at
11:30 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM
through 11:30AM. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on
Saturday, March 22nd at Brilliant Memorial Cemetery in Brilliant, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to
Whitesburg Baptist Church or Samaritan's Purse
