  Teresa Pulliam Obituary -- 06/27/1958 - 09/12/2025

The Honorable Teresa Tanner Pulliam, retired Jefferson County Criminal 
Circuit Judge, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was 67. 
She was a woman of integrity, compassion, and faith who devoted her life 
to justice, her community, and her family.

A native of Huntsville, she was a proud graduate of Birmingham-Southern 
College and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama 
School of Law. She served on the bench for 18 years until 2023 after a 
successful tenure as a prosecutor and in private practice. Most 
recently, she served as the Executive Director of Redemption Earned, a 
nonprofit providing free legal and reentry services to elderly and 
critically ill incarcerated individuals.

Judge Pulliam is survived by her husband of 39 years, Max Pulliam and 
their daughter, Alice Jordan Pulliam. She is also survived by her 
mother, Alice Hinshaw Tanner, her sister, Leslie Ecklund (Fred), and a 
host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her 
father, Bobby Gene Tanner.

A service honoring her life will be held on Thursday, September 18, 
2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Independent Presbyterian Church. In lieu of 
flowers, donations may be made to Redemption Earned.
