passed away in Huntsville, AL on Saturday November 21, 2020 at
the age of 84. <br>

</font></div>
<div class="obituary-text"><font size="+2">Don was born on May 22,
1936 in Huntsville, AL. He graduated from Huntsville High
School in 1954, was a lifelong resident of Huntsville and
spent most of his working career as a Quality Control Engineer
at Redstone Arsenal. Don will be remembered for his great
smile as well as his sense of humor and love of a good story.

<div class="obituary-text"><font size="+2">He has joined the
angels in heaven and reunited with Patricia, his wife of 53
years; parents, Gordon and Missouri Smith; and <b>brother, W.
C. Smith</b>. Don is survived by his three daughters, Amanda
Taylor of Midlothian, VA, Anna Braden and her husband, Gary,
of Huntsville, AL, and Julia McClure and her husband, Jed, of
Marietta, GA.; his four grandchildren and spouses, Jane Anne
and Keith O'Dell of Durham, NC, Sarah and Rob Brinkley of
Midlothian, VA, Jenna and Erik Applegate of Naperville, IL,
and Will McClure of Marietta, GA; six great grandchildren,
Clare and Grayson O'Dell of Durham, NC, Will and Henry
Brinkley of Midlothian, VA and Audrey and Tanner Applegate of
Naperville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. <br>

be held at a later date. <br>

Webb notes that Don worked at Thiokol HD in 1957 (TC #1595).
He was apparently on board in the early '60s. He was the
brother of W.C Smith (TC#1861) who was a well known
manager/director at the HD from 1957 until late 1990. There
was another Donald R. Smith (TC#0370) with us in those days
who was not related to them.<br>
