Kyle Kent Samples, aged 78, passed away peacefully at his
home in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, February 12, 2021. Kyle was
born on January 18, 1943 to Milford "Tye" Samples and
Mildred Johnson Samples in Huntsville, AL at the King Street
Lincoln Mill Village home of his maternal grandparents, Charles
and Gernie Knowles Johnson.

He loved recounting stories of his childhood in Lincoln and used
to tell his family he had so much fun there that he didn't even
know he was poor while he was growing up. Kyle attended Lincoln
Elementary, Madison Academy, Lee Jr. High and Huntsville High
School, where he was a member of the close-knit Class of 1962.
During his school days in Huntsville, Kyle met the love of his
life, his wife Marsha, as well as many dear and lifelong friends.
Kyle was also a proud graduate of Auburn University, though his
college graduation was delayed while he served in the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War. While he was stationed on the island of
Hokkaido in Chitose, Japan, he was fortunate enough to be
accompanied by his wife Marsha and they used to say that this time
in Japan was some of the most fun they ever had. Before retiring
as a contract specialist from the U.S. Department of the Army,
Kyle was employed in Huntsville by First Fidelity Bank as well as
Allstate Insurance Company.

Kyle was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marsha Lee
Jones Samples, and his sister Trudy Samples Clark. He is survived
by daughter Lee Anne Samples Bryant and husband Jason Bryant, son
Stuart Hiram Jones Samples and wife Rachael Verschoore Samples,
granddaughters Elizabeth Ryan Samples, Wren SiHui Lee Bryant and

AL; sister-in-law Sheila Jones Robbins of Columbia, SC and niece
Elizabeth Lee Robbins of Lexington, SC and niece Rebecca Calloway
Robbins Derrick (James) of Mount Airy, NC. The family would like
to especially thank Janice Farmer, Susie Bishop and Ruby Caples
for all the friendship, concern and care they provided for Kyle,
particularly during the last 18 months. The family would also like
to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their wonderful support.

A private service for family and close friends will take place at
a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that

and retired from the HD in about 1982. Kyle's cousin "Tye"
Samples was probably better known than his father based on
athletic accomplishments and community involvement.
