<div class="obituary-text edit"> Jesse Edwin Murph, age 75, of
Marietta, Georgia, stepped into the gracious throne of Christ
on January 31, 2024, at Grady Memorial Hospital, surrounded by
his family. Jesse is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joni
Smith Murph; two sons, Jason Edwin (April Dawn) Murph and John
David (Cindy) Murph; one sister, Carolyn Gail Bruce, two
grandchildren, Amanda Kelly Murph and Kevin Martin Murph, and
several nieces and nephews.</div>

<div class="obituary-text edit">Jesse was born in Brantley,
Alabama, to Jesse Glen Murph and Johnnie Lou Murph on December
11, 1948. He was a proud member of the 1967 Elba High School
class. After graduation, Jesse graduated Phi Kappa Phi with
his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering
from Auburn University. He was a true ‘rocket scientist’
because he loved designing and developing missiles for the US
military, working for various NASA subcontractors, primarily <b>Morton
Thiokol.</b></div>

<div class="obituary-text edit">Mostly, he was proud of his
family…his sons and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Jesse
was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Kennesaw, GA, where
he had just led a team to finish a complete renovation of the
sanctuary. A true passion of Jesse’s was greeting fellow
worshipers at New Salem Baptist Church. He tried to always
remember new names and faces that attended eachweek. He was
also a committed member of a church bible study group of men
because he loved studying God’s word. </div>

<div class="obituary-text edit">Visitation for family and
friends is Monday, February 5, from 5-7 pm EST at Mayes-Ward
Funeral Home in Marietta.</div>
<div class="obituary-text edit"> <br>
The funeral will be held at New Salem Baptist Church,
Kennesaw, GA, on Tuesday, February 6, at 11 am EST. The burial
with a graveside service will be held in his hometown of Elba,
Alabama, in Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, February 7, at 1
pm CST. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to
the missionary work at Nong Thaen Church Thailand (Pongpas) be
