Friends,

Apologies from the Board to anyone who went to HDAA Breakfast Saturday 
morning only to be disappointed by the cancellation they did not know about.

The attached note to "the List" from Patti Wilson and a similar note on 
the HDAA Facebook page were thought to be good notices of the 
cancellation suggested by the facility manager and agreed upon by HDAA 
team leaders. The weather forecast of several inches of snow was just 
not encouraging for the safety of kitchen staff or diners. But, at least 
two members planning to attend did not get the word by internet or 
phone. One inquired and the other was feeling guilty about being a 
no-show because of the perceived danger.

Maybe others did not get the word for unknown reasons, braved the 
weather threat, and arrived at a cancelled event. I personally apologize 
for our system's failure to warn you! Please let me know if you were in 
that position, not because you can expect anything like compensation for 
gasoline wasted but because it might help us understand how the system 
failed to warn you and so prevent a recurrence in the failure.

Due to the threat of inclement  weather (winter weather advisory), 
Brookdale has asked us to reschedule the breakfast to a later date. They 
fear inclement weather might reduce their necessary complement of 
staffing to adequately cook/serve the meal to attendees.  The Board 
agreed, as well as wanting none of the attendees to be put in harm's way 
due to weather conditions.

Bill Barnes, Spring Breakfast committee chairman, has asked that this 
notice be sent out, as well as a notice on the HDAA Facebook site.  And, 
he and a few others are trying to call all of the attendees who've 
already made reservations.

When a decision is made on a possible future date for this favorite 
event, it will be rescheduled and a notice submitted.

We are sorry if this has caused any undue inconvenience for you, but, 
we'd rather be safe than sorry.

(If this notice is a duplicate of a notice already posted by another 
Board member, advance apology offered!)
