Billy Ray Yell Obituary

Billy Ray Yell, 92, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on November 14, 2023. 
His funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 17 at 2:00 p.m. at 
Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Bob Wallace Ave. Visitation will be at 
1:00 p.m. The burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery following the service.

Mr. Yell was born in Merrimack Village, Alabama, on January 9, 1931, to 
Charles E. Yell and Era Haynes Yell. He grew up in Merrimack and 
attended Joe Bradley School. He attended Freed-Hardeman College in 
Henderson, Tennessee.

He went to work at Thiokol Corporation on Redstone Arsenal in 1951 and 
worked there until retiring in 1991 as a Senior Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years, Dorothy 
Widner Yell, and two brothers, Clarence Yell and James Yell.

He is survived by his son, Billy R. Yell II (wife Susan) and two 
grandsons, Ryan F. Yell (wife Sarah) and Evan W. Yell (wife Meredith).

Mr. Yell was a faithful member of the Kelly Springs Road church of Christ.
