Very Sad Facebook Message from Bonnie Whitt, Widow of Mike
          Charness

Dear friends, It is with a heavy heart that I bring extremely sad news.
My beloved husband, Michael “Mike” Charness, passed away at Huntsville
Hospital on March 26, 2024, after a 2 week illness. How it happened:
😢💔
Michael went into the ER 3/11/24 Monday morning with severe abdominal
pain. Upon registering, he began to get confused and brain fog so the
triage nurse called a stroke alert and wheeled him off for an MRI, CT,
numerous blood tests and cultures. They suspected a *UTI, stroke, mini
strokes or urosepsis. We spent 4 hours in ER before we got a room. 4
days later, Friday night, they found on a 2nd abdominal CT the culprit
of his pain. A kidney stone was obstructing flow from his kidney and he
had become septic. Emergency surgery to put in a stent was performed.
The right antibiotic was found and given intravenously to kill the
bacteria and we thought we were in the clear. His pain was much better
but by morning he had trouble breathing and his heart went into Afib. He
was quickly transferred to ICU. His doctors all said he was literally
“between rock in a hard place”.
His oxygen levels kept falling and his heart rate kept rising. Every
attempt to breathe on his own without oxygen support was damaging his
heart. We were there for 2 weeks. 💔😢😭 and 6 of those days he was on
the ventilator so his body could receive nourishment and also get some
rest for healing. Then while on the ventilator he developed ARDS (acute
respiratory syndrome) and then pneumonia. His lungs could not recover.
He slipped away from me while still on the breathing machine. While it
still seems unreal to me and even harder to understand, Michael has gone
home to our Heavenly Father.
*If anyone reading this remotely suspects they have a UTI or kidney
infection or stones, DO NOT WAIT OR DELAY TREATMENT. bring extremely sad
